Law enforcement is        there to help you.

Where to Call

Remember, in an emergency you should call 911.  And immediately following a sexual assault, you should go directly to your local hospital emergency department.  At your request, the local police department with jurisdiction over the area where you were assaulted will be contacted by hospital staff.

If you would like to report a sexual assault that happened in the past, you can arrange to speak with a detective in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred.

The Rape Crisis Program's Law Enforcement Liaison, Lisa Stephens, is available to assist you as you consider your options.  It is her job to help you understand police and criminal justice procedures.  If you choose to pursue criminal charges against your offender, it is also her job to help you establish a cooperative relationship with the detective who will be investigating your case, and to accompany you throughout the different phases of the investigation and criminal justice process.  To learn more about her role, please click on our Law Enforcement Liaison link. To speak with Ms. Stephens, please telephone her at (513)856-8618.
